Walleye

With their glowing eyes and beautiful gold color, walleye epitomize the Canadian fishing experience. Up here, these fish are distributed across a great number of lakes and rivers including some of Canada's best known walleye fisheries - Lac Seul, Lake St. Joseph and Lake of the Woods. Northern Pike

A big, aggressive predatory fish, northern pike are key factors in keeping fish populations balanced and healthy in our lakes and rivers. Big northerns mean you'll want your heavy tackle and big baits - just about anything works on pike. Your chances of landing a trophy fish are good to very good depending on where you're fishing.

Muskie

Sunset Country is one of North America's top muskie destinations. These magnificent fish are top dog in their ecosystem. Preying on a variety of bait fish, muskie are awesome predators. Heavy tackle is in order and no bait is too big up here!

Bass

Pound for pound our best fighters, smallmouth bass are distributed across the southern half of our region. Famous bass waters such as Rainy Lake and Lake of the Woods beckon you. A lesser known fact is the great largemouth bass fishing we have in some of our lakes. Bring all the baits that work back home - spinners and crank baits work well. Tube jigs are a local favourite. Fishing is vigorous throughout the day.

Lake & Brook Trout

The sheer number of cold, deep lakes we have guarantees a fantastic trout fishing vacation. Lake trout can be caught in the shallows just after ice out but go much deeper during the summer. January to March offer some really good ice fishing opportunities. Brook trout are abundant in the Arctic river systems in the far northern regions of Sunset Country - try your luck fly-fishing for brookies approaching 8 pounds in size.
